As part of our commitment to the promotion of Australian Cotton Science, the AACS is embarking on a social media journey, starting with Twitter but with possible expansion to other platforms.

The aim of the Association engaging in the Twittersphere is to provide an additional platform to:

1. Promote our members and their research; 
2. Facilitate communication between our members, further encouraging cross-agency and cross-discipline collaboration;
3. Allow members to further engage in international cotton science; and
4. Promote events co-ordinated by the AACS or relevant to AACS members.

Our twitter handle is @AusCottonSci, and use the hashtag #AACS in tweets that you’d like the AACS to interact with.

Given the postponement of the Gold Coast Australian Cotton Industry Conference which is now scheduled for August 2021, we considered it prudent to delay our next event until the following year. Cotton Australia have confirmed that the industry conference will continue every second year from the delayed date (2021, 2023 etc.). The AACS conference will therefore follow suit with our events now occurring in 2022, 2024 etc.

More information will be available closer to the event.

Every two years the President and Management Committee positions are declared open and the AACS calls for nominations which are then decided by the AACS membership through a formal secret ballot.

Our current Management Committee is made of 4 full members, 1 associate member and the president position. Our current representatives are:

The roles within the Management Committee (e.g Treasurer) are decided by the incoming executive team.

We would warmly invite nominations from the membership for the positions of President, Management Committee or Associate Management Committee.

To nominate please provide the following details

• Nomination role (President, Management Committee or Associate Management Committee)
• Preferred name and Surname
• Your Organisation and Position
• Area of work/discipline
• Why you would like to be considered for the President/executive committee (25 words max)
• What have you got to offer the committee (30 words max)
• Provide a photograph

Our constitution also states that the immediate Past-President shall be an ex-officio member of the Management Committee. Should there be a change of President at the AGM; this position will be in addition to the elected Management Committee.

Warwick will not be seeking nomination for the next Management Committee and we warmly thank him for his service and support of the AACS since its inception.
